Welcome to Innerthoughts Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a completely natural, safe altered state of mind. People undergoing hypnosis are generally fully aware of what they are experiencing.

Hypnosis comes from the greek word meaning sleep. This is misleading because during hypnosis you are not asleep. Hypnosis is a state of altered awareness and great relaxation. It is perfectly safe and natural. You experience a similar trance state; when you are lost in thought, daydreaming, absorbed in a book or film: when you take your daily journey and have no memory of it. It is sometimes called focussed awareness.

During hypnosis the subconscious mind, which houses our feelings and memories can come to the surface and be available to suggestions for change.

Hypnosis is sometimes called focussed awareness. Hypnosis allows therapist and client, together, to communicate directly with the unconscious or subconscious mind.

Such communication can help with many different kinds of problems.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a process where a professionally trained therapist helps a client to go safely into this altered state of awareness or trance. The client is always in control; aware of what is being said; able to hear, talk and move.

Once in a state of deep, deep relaxation and focussed awareness, hypnotherapist and client can work together on whatever is troubling the client by communicating directly with the subconscious mind.
